It was a shocking but pleasant surprise to see a network television series boldly comment on the current events and politics afflicting our nation through the Obama administration, as the writers and director of “V” did, while crafting a great story which doesn’t get bogged down with the occasional politcal joust in the storyline.

There’s no doubt, if the show continues on in the quality of its pilot, that it should enjoy a long run, (or until it’s decided to be ended), which hints are, if it gets good numbers, will be four years from now.

While it was fun to see some pokes at the Obama administration, especially at the dangerous mainstream media which has given him a free pass; largely letting him get away with almost anything he wants, the story tells of a similar media which embraces the visitors in the same way, not asking difficult or challenges questions which would demand an answer.

Add to that the secret meetings of those who knew that aliens had been among them for some time, and their arrival being one of the latter moves they make in order to institute their nefarious plan, and you have some great opportunities for a lot of good stories and plots for some time.

Already the characters introduced are easy to relate to, and a wide swath of human emotion and types are presented in a way that gets you into their character and their place in the unfolding story.

If you didn’t see the pilot, go online and take a look. You owe it to yourself to see this series, as it’s one of the better on network television I’ve seen in a long time.
