Celebrity Trends | Jessica Biel Still Trying to Find Her Way
Celebrity Trends
Jessica Biel started her acting career when she was chosen to play in the popular WB series 7th Heaven, which ultimately became the longest-running family drama in the history of television.
Before that she had done some work in commercials, as well as modeling.
Biel has struggled a lot because she’s gotten the idea in her head that because she played the role she did in 7th Heaven, it’s caused her to lose other acting opportunities.
In some cases she’s overcompensating, taking some sleazy roles that mostly B-levels take, possibly becoming a self-fulfilling prophecy for her. I’m thinking of the stripper role in Powder Blue, which did absolutely nothing to further her career, and could have harmed it. I don’t think playing in ‘Nailed’ is going to do much for her either, as she plays a woman that gets a nail in her head, causing her to become a nymphomaniac. Oh boy, that sounds thrilling.
Anyway, Biel has appeared in a number of films, including, The Texas Chainsaw Massacre, Blade film series, Blade: Trinity, Stealth, Next,
and her first feature film, which may have been her best - Ulee’s Gold.
I actually like Jessica Biel, but it seems she’s having a hard time finding herself as an actress, or at least that’s her own way of thinking, as even today, after appearing in numerous films, she still complains about not getting enough work.
Looking at the roles she’s choosing, I think her problem is she’s trying far too hard to escape what she perceives as the negative connection to playing a wholesome character in 7th Heaven. Her actions from those attempts seem to be harming her career rather than helping it.
