Being a huge fan of The Lord of the Rings, I was definitely skeptical, but hopeful, that the fan film “Hunt For Gollum” would be at least interesting to watch.
It was more than interesting, it was really good. It had a professional music score which one could recognize as something that could easily have been from the original movies.
The cinematography was also very well done, and should surprise anyone watching in.
In the end it’s about the story though, and it was pretty good. It did diverge from the original some, but then so did the Lord of the Rings trilogy, so that can’t be faulted.
The story was good, and some of the scenes of Aragorn as a ranger were pretty exciting to watch.
Most fans will absolutely love this approxmite 40-minute film, while those that are purists will like it, but be disappointed in the same way they were with The Lord of the Rings.
It’s definitely worth taking a look at, and most won’t be disappointed in any way, but really surprised at how well done this is for a fan film project.
