Gadget Trends | Digitizing Your Cassette Tapes
Gadget Trends
This new gadget from a company in Japan named Novac, has received a lot of coverage recently, as it offers a hardware solution to transferring audio from cassettes to digital.
A lot of people think there’s not much use for the device, thinking it would be cheaper to simply buy your songs online or buy the CD.
If it was simply a matter of music alone, that is a real possibility, as the $80 price could make the effort more trouble and money than it is worth.
Where I see more of the value is in cassettes that were used for teaching and training in the past years, which would probably be unable to be replaced other than through digitizing them.
There’s of course the time factor and mixing issues that would make this a huge project if we’re considering music alone; especially if you have a large collection of cassette music sitting around.
One last reason it could be valuable is if you taped loved ones and friends who are no longer with you, and it’s the only media you have them on. In that case, time and money wouldn’t be as important as only digitizing your cassette music collection.
