Taking balloons and turning them into art is the work of Jason Hackenwerth, who has created a number of works under names like “Wearable ‘Magamite’ Sculpture,” “The Ride of Lady Godiva,” “Self Pollinator” and “Orgasmoebic.”
The majority of the work of Hackenwerth is inspired by animal and plant kingdoms. He says of the shapes he creates that he’s “filling them, The air inside is slipping out. It’s a great metaphor for our own lives.”
Depending on the situation, the art of Hackenwerth can be aerial, or, in some cases, literally worn by people on special occasions, like the opening of a art center or museum.
